Thursday the 25
raining, took train
to Newmills with John

hired a dogcart
went up to Newhouse
raining wet, went across
to Keekifar seen 3 fillies
one gray, not altogether
rough enough about
the legs but well
otherwise, thinks could
get them cheap
Allan drove to
Galston, took train
to Kilmarnock.


Allan is another son of Aunt Jean's. Allan Wyllie and his wife Maggy lived at Foulpapple in Loudon Parish east of Kilmarnock.


A dogcart is a two wheeled cart.


Newmills, Newhouse & Galston are all name of places. Every settlement had a name from a small rural cottage to a farm. There are some 13,000 place names in Ayrshire with many duplicates.


"keek in fer" is scottish slang meaning to pop in for something or to pay a short visit
