Station at 9 fifteen
was in Liverpool
by four in the morning
Telegraphed to Frank
to meet us at the
station but he did
not, James Todd &
John Wyllie seen
us off at Kilmarnock
Wednesday the 7  arrived
the prince is coming
here tomorrow, they are
preparing for him,got
our horses on board
the Brooklyn about 7
in the evening, stayed
on board all night
she was out in the river


Edward, The Prince of Wales came to Liverpool 8 September 1881 to commemorate the opening of the dock gates into Liverpool’s New North Docks, at Bootle
Edward was the son of Queen Victoria, Great Grandfather of Queen Elizabeth


Built for the Inman Line and Launched as the City of Brooklyn in 1868, it  was sold to Dominion Line in 1878 and renamed Brooklyn. In 1879 it was lengthened to 400 feet, new tonnage of 4,215 gross, fitted with compound engines. It was wrecked Nov 8, 1885, on Anticosti Island
