Thursday the 1
was at Pickens, seen filly
kept telegraphing
to Ayr the most
of the day, went back
to Fergushill, the man
talks sense now

Friday the 2
went up to
Newmills, Done with,
got my hands tied up
and seen Burns Monument,

stayed at ants

The Burns Monument is Kay Park
Kilmarnock, it commemorates the poet Robert Burns (1759-1796) , born 2 miles south of Ayr, the eldest of 7 children.

In August 1879 the 40 acre park was opened, so this would have been new since James left Scotland in 1852
